DISCOVER ALPACA

Sourced from extremely high altitudes of the Andes Mountains, SENTALER uses the finest selection of Peruvian alpaca fibres in its collections. Alpaca is a domesticated animal raised and cared for by local Peruvian families.

The alpaca fibre is a natural thermal insulator as it contains microscopic air pockets, which make SENTALER outerwear warm but exceptionally lightweight.

Known for its high quality and luxury appeal, alpaca fibre is extremely soft to the touch with a beautiful natural drape. It is hypoallergenic and does not mat, pill, stain, fade or lose shape.

SENTALER is proud to use ethically sourced, sustainable, cruelty-free fabrics and furs in its collections.

TYPES OF ALPACA

The SENTALER collections are precisely crafted using luxurious Peruvian alpaca fibre. This rare fibre is obtained by shearing an alpaca animal every two to three years. The shearing process in all cases is done in a cruelty-free manner. Each of these fibres offer their own unique characteristics and features:

SURI ALPACA

The rare Suri alpaca has a longer, rich-looking hair that provides a beautiful silky shine, and a lustrous soft feel. SENTALER pieces made of Suri Alpaca are fully lined. They are considered to be the warmest styles, ideal for the cold winter season.

BABY ALPACA

Baby Alpaca comes from the first shearing of a young alpaca and results in a fibre with an exceptionally soft look and feel. SENTALER pieces made of Baby Alpaca are fully lined and are the most widely used in the collections. These pieces are naturally lightweight yet warm and suitable for the fall and winter seasons.

SUPERFINE ALPACA

Superfine Alpaca provides a raw finish and textured feel similar to boiled wool. SENTALER pieces made of Superfine Alpaca are double-faced and are not lined. These are considered to be the lightest styles in the collections, and can be worn year round.

Designed and created by Bojana Sentaler in 2012, this original and identifiable design detail on all SENTALER coats soon became the brand’s trademark. From the iconic full ribbed sleeves, to the ribbed cuff accents and across the line of ribbed knit accessories, this distinguished ribbed design detail can be repeatedly seen throughout all SENTALER collections.

Oversized Hood

Introduced for the first time in the FW10 Collection, Bojana Sentaler’s idea for the SENTALER signature oversized hood was to provide versatility and functionality while retaining the elegance of the SENTALER wrap coat. This design detail was created with the intention to be able to be worn in three different ways: as an inverted oversized hood, popped as a cowl neck, or draped wide across the shoulders. This SENTALER trademark was designed to take your favourite style from day to night.
